Cascara: The Tea of the Coffee World
Cascara from Finca Deborah is a unique “tea from the coffee world” — it’s made from the dried skins of coffee cherries, rather than coffee beans. Brewing cascara gives a drink with delicate, tea-like character: floral aromas, fruity sweetness, and a gentle natural caffeine kick — quite different from a typical coffee brew. It’s a creative way to enjoy coffee’s fruit component and experience a lighter, refreshing beverage with a connection to the same coffee plants that give us espresso and filter coffee.
Brewing Directions
Hot Brew
Place 15g of cascara into a tea bag and add it to a mug or pot.
Pour 300ml of freshly boiled water over the cascara and steep for 4–6 minutes.
Remove the tea bag and enjoy.
Cold Brew
Place 10g of cascara into a tea bag and add it to a pot or bottle.
Pour in 500ml of cold water and steep in the refrigerator for 8–12 hours.
Remove the tea bag and enjoy.
